1st year exam: Completed!
18 Jumadil aakhirah 1429H

bismillah
allahumma solli ‘ala sayyidina Muhammad wa ‘ala alihi wa sohbihi wa wasallim

first n foremost: Exam dabes. Exam dabes. Exam dabes. (for those yg pernah belajar Nahu, ini dinamakan “Taukid Melepaskan Kelegaan” :p) results will be out after 20 days insyaAllah. So right now, alhamdulillah, I'm able to execute the “missions” on my “post-exam to-do list”. Among which is to clean my wardrobe! Sebelum ia jadi hutan, adalah baik bagi patik utk mengemasnya. Before that, Wardah n me just cleaned our room n cleaned our carpets. Yes, we cleaned them ourselves tau. then we sent to our neighbours house to dry them at the roof. That means we carried those carpets ourselves tau. (ok dah eh Khadijah. Tak bagus tau bangga2 mcm ni. psl carpet pulak tu. apa nak jadi budak sorang ni?? :p)

right now it’s Summer. The heat can make you… cair~

when it was Winter, we wished we could get some warmth, we loved walking in whatever little sunrays there were. Now, how we wish it’s winter! huu~ nilah lumrah manusia kan. Bila dah hilang sesuatu baru nak menghargainya. Moral of the story: appreciate whatever we have/ whatever we’re facing right now, before it's gone =)

btw, this Friday, insyaAllah, we S’porean sisters (plus 3 musyrifs) will be going to the sea for vacation! The place is called Ummu Tuyur, n the journey from Dimasyq to there takes ard 4-5 hours. Fuh! Another thing that Singaporeans (n Malaysians or any other residents in a country that has lots of seas) have to appreciate: laut~ here we have to fork out quite a large sum of money just to see the sea (transportation + food +accomodation). Du’akan kitorang selamat pergi dan pulang k. ingatkan tadi nak suruh du’akan kita pandai belajar berenang, tapi mcm susah lah… been wanting to learn swimming for years n years. Sampai skrg, cuma pandai berendam je. Heh. Rasulullah encouraged us to learn 3 skills: swimming (takpe! insyaAllah satu hari org pandai jugak berenang!), archery (ni pernah try sekali je. Nntlah org try lagi kalau ada peluang, biidznillah), and horseback-riding (ni, erm, mcm jauh siket. Rasanya yg ni lebih utk lelaki kot).

Not even one has been attained :(
...

I’ll end this entry with a point my Anisah at Dar Hadith shared with us yesterday:

It is of poor adab with Allah for a Muslim to start an ‘ibadah, then leave it. Meaning, once we start doing a form of ‘ibadah, we should istiqamah, n continue performing it on a regular basis, n not simply abandon it just like that. Like someone who has always wake up for tahajjud at night, he should keep on doing it. That’s why Rasulullah encouraged us to maintain our good deeds, no matter how small they are, rather than performing one whole lump of good deeds at one time, than leaving it altogether after that.

Some people might argue: “ish. Kalau gitu baik jgn start buat ah. Takut nnt tak dpt nak istiqamah” ,etc. My anisah once shared that one of syaitan ways to make us fall into their traps is this. Another example: we all know that forgetting verses of the Qur’an that we’ve memorized is a sin. so, syaitan whispers: “alaa. Nanti kalau hafal Qur’an lepas tu lupa kan berdosa. Baik tak payah start hafal langsung”.

There. why must we listen to these whispers which will only distant ourselves from our Creator, when at the same time, we can still continue memorizing the beautiful verses of Allah, n then push ourselves to revise them regularly? Here’s when Mujahadah comes into play. No pain, no gain lah kan? :)

The choice is in our hands.

With that, fi amaanillah~

    salaam

    ukhti, the hadith you quoted,

"Rasulullah encouraged us to learn 3 skills: swimming (takpe! insyaAllah satu hari org pandai jugak berenang!), archery (ni pernah try sekali je. Nntlah org try lagi kalau ada peluang, biidznillah), and horseback-riding (ni, erm, mcm jauh siket. Rasanya yg ni lebih utk lelaki kot)"

it is actually, if I'm not mistaken, is an ATHAR, a statement attributed to a sahabat or a tabi'i.

Umar r.a. said "Teach your children swimming, archery, and horseback riding.”

    wallahu'alam

    =)

p.s. I got the teaching position, alhamdulillah. Will be signing the contract today 3 July 2008, 29 Jamadil Akhir 1429H.

    Doakan eh
