kambing montel!
21 Zulhijjah 1428H

bismillah
allahumma solli ‘ala sayyidina Muhammad wa ‘ala alihi wa sohbihi..

Alhamdulillah, my first ‘Eidul Adha in Syam went very well. We watched the qurban taking place –no, not at the jami’- but at the suuq (market)! Wherever there’s a meat shop, there are sheeps to be found nearby. Kambing2 dia montel2. hee~

Alhamdulillah, again, for giving my friends and me the chance to visit maqam Nabi Ayyub ‘alaihis salam n his son, maqam Imam Nawawi, maqam Sa’ad bin ‘Ubadah, one of the great companions of the Prophet ‘alaihi solatu wassalam, n maqam Abu Yazid Al-Busthani, one of the great Sufi masters, radhiyallahu ‘anhum ajma’in. We went to Nawa n Busra by bus last Saturday, a journey of abt 2 hours from Dimasyq. Busra, the very city that Rasulullah passed by with his uncle Abu Talib, where the rahib Buhaira met him and told Abu Talib about the prophetic signs he noticed in Rasulullah… the place was awesome!!! MaasyaAllah, cantik nah sgt tak puas nak pandang. It was sunset when we arrived at the place… n my friends n me were speechless by its beauty. Ustaz kat kuliyyah kata, kalau nampak benda yg cantik, cakap: “Bismillahi maasyaAllah, wa laa haula wa laa quwwata illa billah”. :)

Oh yes, another experience not to be forgotten was when Hafizah n me rode a horse carriage! Ala, mcm princess-princess dulu… hehe. laju! Best! Thrilling! All that for less than S$0.60. hoho… (tapi bau najis dia tak best. huu~)

Before I end, I would like to share something that we learnt during a Fiqh lesson (conducted by an Indonesian Ustaz on every Saturday):

The companions of the Prophet regard things that are sunnah as things that Rasulullah performed and thus they always try to practice and follow them as much as possible. but what about us? Most of us these days see things that are sunnah as supplementary and thus are not compulsory. “ala. Sunnat je pe. Bukannye wajib. Kalau tak buat pun takpe, tak dosa…”

Renungkan dan fikir-fikirkanlah..

:)

Berbaik Sangka...
Wahai diriku yang lupa..

Bila berjumpa kanak-kanak,
Anngaplah mereka lebih mulia daripada kita
Kerana mereka belum dibebani dosa.

Bila berhadapan dengan orang tua,
Anggaplah mereka lebih mulia
Kerana lebih lama beribadah daripada kita.

Bila berjumpa orang alim,
Anggaplah mereka lebih mulia kerana banyak ilmu.

Bila melihat orang jahil,
Anggaplah mereka lebih mulia
Kerana berbuat dosa disebabkan kejahilan
Sedangkan kita berbuat dosa dalam keadaan mengetahuinya.

Bila berjumpa orang jahat,
Jangan anggap kita mulia.
Katakana mungkin mereka akan bertaubat pada masa tuanya,
Sedangkan kita belum tahu akhirnya…

-Kata-kata Imam Ghazali

Jangan lupa banyakkan du’a… n bila tengah du’a tu, selit2kan lah siket nama kte2 kat sini ;)
du’a utk Ummah kitorang… khususnya masyarakat Islam di Singapura. Org dengar dari kakak2 seniors yang baru balik cuti dari Singapore, keadaan di Singapura dah semakin teruk sangat :(

org kat sini tak tahu sgt tntg perkembangan kat sana. Korang2 yg tgh baca ni, kalau ada masa yang terluang, sudi2lah update kte tntg hal ehwal semasa ye.

Here, I miss out a lot on the happenings in my homeland. For those of you who are kind enough and have time to spare, do, please do update me on the current news in Singapore k? I miss reading newspapers n watching the news… thanks :)

last but not least, as usual, Happy Birthday to all the December babies! May you all be blessed with a peaceful life and success now n in the hereafter. Allahumma Ameen! :)

Mujahadah.... dan terus bermujahadah!
seemingly small incidents...
but sometimes it is those "small" incidents that make you realise who really cares for you...

إذا كان الله معك فمن عليك؟
وإذا كان الله عليك فمن معك؟
........

20 Zulkaedah 1428H

Almost 3 weeks have passed since I last checked out my khad-safiy. Was occupied with other activities, n partly also to discipline myself. That I will only allow myself to go to the Internet Café when need be, atau bila angin rindu hebat melanda hatiku (chey~ rindu keluarga n my girlfrens lah :)) .

n ever since I arrived in Syam, no sms was composed by Khadijah Mohamed Hussain. From the avid sms-er (I used to send +- 1000 sms/mth back in S’pore. Hee..) to nil since 10 August 2007. Boleh hidup pun sampai sekarang :) hati pun lebih tenang, hamdanlillah :) Cuma rindu nak msg my sisters. Hmm~

Sikit2 rindu. Takpelah, ukhuwah fillah (friendship for HIS Sake), ukhuwwah yg sebenar2nya, kan kekal segar dan kukuh, dan tak akan layu hanya disebabkan jarak yg memisahkan zahir kita.

Some updates on Syria: it’s winter time! Before that, my friends n me learnt the ni’mah of rain. In S’pore, it rains every week, or even everyday, such that at times we wish that it won’t rain… here in Syam, the Muslims were intently hoping for the rain to come. There was once when the Mudirah (principal) n the vice-Mudirah dropped by our class, n for around 10 mins, after the lights were dimmed, all of us began to istighfar n selawat n du’a for the rain… n finally, on 20th Nov 2007, it rained continuously for 2 days. N then the temperature began to drop even further. Brr!! So cold we could see smokes coming out from our mouths when we speak or breathe. Abes kitorang pon jakon~ hee… we have a heater in the toilet. But there were a few times when we forgot to switch it on. Esp if it happens during Subuh (ard 4:40am). Taking wudhu’ becomes eerie.. As Hida aptly put it: “mcm nak nangis”. Ya Allah~ here’s when Mujahadah is greatly needed.

Mardhiyah once shared with us on the topic of mujahadah. The strive to maintain ourselves in obedience to ALLAH, to better ourselves, equip ourselves with positive akhlaq. Mujahadah comes in many forms, Mujahadah in Solat, Mujahadah in Fasting, Mujahadah in Reciting/Memorising/Understanding the Qur’anul Kariim, Mujahadah in covering our ‘aurat, etc. the levels n “areas of specialization” differs from one person to the next, e.g. Person A might mujahadah in solat more than person B, while person B is “stronger” in his Fasting. What’s important is for us to be consistent (istiqamah), n keep on continuing to improve ourselves.

Another example of Mujahadah is when one really wants to do smtg, but then is unable to/not given the chance to do so, yet one still manage to control oneself n remain patient! :D basically, mujahadah is to do smtg that’s difficult for us (e.g. waking up for tahajjud, learning Arabic Language, lower our gaze, not listening to too much music, etc.) but we still PUSH ourselves to do it. Yeah! On top of that, when one has been consistently doing smtg good, like qiyamullail, then suddenly he is sick n unable to carry out his regular routine, ALLAH will still reward him for it! يا أرحم الراحمين ارحمنا~

Here, we the Singaporean sisters (ard 20 of us) try to hold a halaqah among us every 2 weeks, on Saturday morning. We’ll share excerpts from the book “The Ideal Muslimah” (Nad n Diy! Remember the book? ;)) n discuss on a current affair topic. Last week it was my turn to present, n I chose to present on one of the branches of Iman: Haya’ (Shyness), how important it is for a Muslimah to beautify herself with this noble attitude that always motivates her to keep away from what is abhorrent n to avoid falling short in her duties towards those who have rights over her. Then Mardhiyah continued with the topic of her choice: the Joint Madrasah System which, I believe, is still a hot topic among the Muslim community in S’pore, isn’t it?

Then, on every other Saturday, we’ll organise a riadhah. Usually we’ll go to the stadium n play badminton/captain’s ball/soccer. sebok dorang nak practise gaya hidup sihat. Hee~

Mcm panjang gitu cerita kan? Ni belum lagi share psl subjects kat skola. Takpelah, bila ada yg BEST sgt2 baru nnt kita share. For the meantime, just want to tell u my favourite subjects: Fiqh, Musthalah Hadith, Balaghah, n ‘Ulum Qur’an. In Fiqh, we learn the views of the 4 madzhabs. Very, VERY interesting. masyaAllah! Indeed the difference in madzhabs is a rahmah :) we just finished the chapter on Taharah, n is now starting on Solat. Majority of my classmates are Syafi’iyyah, followed by Ahnaaf. One sister follows madzhab Hanbali. I’ve yet to meet someone following madzhab Maliki.

The Anisah for ‘Ulum Qur’an loves to share with us wonderful stories from the Qur’an, n she’s very good at it. The anisah for Musthalah is superb that it’s impossible not to fall in love with the subject.
As for Balaghah, I’ve always love it. Suka bahasa indah2, bunga2 ni semua! ^-^ Dukturah yg ajar Tarikh Tasyri’ comel nah sgt tau. Nnt dia ajar sampai kdg2 tertutup mata dia. Ada je selitkan du’a2 n always remind us to recite the selawat when the Prophet name is mentioned.

Before I end, to Miss Saliha Abdul Latiff: awak!!! Selamat Pengantin Baru in advance! N so our prediction back then in sec school was correct: u’re the first among our batch to get married ;p بارك الله فيكما و جعل بينكما سكينة مودة ورحمة. آمين yes i know this is not the exact du'a for pengantin, but i just love to include the parts on sakinah, mawaddah n rahmah. mendalam tau maksudnya ;) Sayangnya tak dpt tgk awk kawin :( a warning to ur zauj-to-be, make sure he take good care of my dear friend eh. Kalau tak gue jotos dia. Heh. (asal boleh je budak Khadijah ni nak jotos anak org).

N to sis Khatim who’s now in US, chey~ ape perasaan jejakkan kaki kat negeri Bush? Heh. Miss those days in mudarris class with u and Hazami. every Sat night… on the rooftop… moon-gazing… merepek-ing… stifling ur laughs…

Oh yes! I’ve received the 3 ‘eid cards sent by my adik sayang, Muiza, my caregroup-mate in TP, n “my chemical remymberance” –I think I know who u are -who addressed the card to my friends n me in Syam. Thanks for those little surprises, although theywere received almost more than a month after ‘Eid. Haa! Yg penting sampai kan? :) to adik, ur words n poem touched me. A lot. Pandai adik akak karang sajak. Sampai menitis air mata akak…

Bak bunga mawar yang melayu..
Aku di sini sakit merinduimu..
Mengenangkan dirimu yang pergi menimba ilmu..
Semangatku pudar..
Hatiku tak kental seperti dahulu..
Kerana tiada lagi yang ingin menyiram diriku
Dengan nasihat2 dan air curahan penuh dengan zat
Untuk aku berdiri tegak seperti dulu..

Tapi adik tak boleh lemah tau. Semangat juang kita seorg Muslimah tak boleh pudar, walau apa jua ujian yg melanda, sesedih atau sesunyi mana pun kita, yakinlah ALLAH & RasulNYA tetap bersama! واعلم أن فيكم رسول الله
Ni I’m motivating myself jugak. Huu~

Oklah. Till here, assalamu’alaikum wr. wb. :)
