of Politics (!) and Play
3 Safar 1436H

After 3 nights of sleeping on Kakak's green couch, she finally gets to sleep on her jungle-to-be bed in the jungle-ish room shared with her 2 sisters & 2 nieces.

And oh, why the couch?

because it saves time, as she has been attempting to collect enough facts, understand them, select the relevant ones, rephrase them, and write her own version of the topic. It's for the Post-Graduate Diploma again, this time the assignment was on Islamic Political System. And she chose Turkey, the self-declared secular country with almost 98% Muslim population, whose then-Prime Minister-now-President Recep Tayyip Erdogan apparently continues to issue more legislations that are seen as Islamicly-inspired. Such as lifting the ban on hijab in universities and public offices, restricting sales of alcohol, prohibiting mixed-gender dorms in universities and converting more secular high schools into the Imam-Hatip (religious) high schools in which students learn not only Maths, Physics and the humanities, but also Qur'an, Fiqh and Sirah.

The intriguing part is how the President insisted on being committed to secularism, instead of relating his actions to Islam. For instance, he cited the hijab as part of human rights and to ban it would be against democracy!

Brilliant, isn't he?

He's facing loads of criticism from others. And I believe he very well realises that changing the mindset of generations who have been brainwashed with secular (Atatürk-style) doctrines since the past decades is no easy job.

But at least he's brave enough to attempt it. And even prevailed over the military :D

Now summoning The Semangat to begin packing for tomorrow's IOK Trip to KL with my colleagues. Last module to look forward to, biidznillah. On Islamisation of Society. #whoa

Earlier this morning (oh, I finally managed to submit my assignment at almost 1:30am! Alhamdulillah :')), b/w 10+ to around 2pm, was at Pasir Ris Park with my 4 students. Despite the meagre amount of sand (ironically, esp for a place named PASIR Ris. Thus we didn't get to build sandcastles as planned. Hehe), the girls and me had a great time picnicing, swinging, sliding, spider-webbing, climbing, running, walking, chatting... Under the Super Warm Sky. hehe.
Alhamdulillah...

Melayu tak hilang, namun apa jasamu wahai Melayu??
30 Muharram 1436H

Melaka Trip over. Lots of walking. 'New' Melaka (compared to my last visit which was like... 15 years ago??). The foods are quite pricey. Many historical facts discovered (and yet to be discovered once I get to read more, insyaAllah). The sec 4 '14 batch are easy to get along with, despite me never getting to teach most of them before (':

...
Huda's nikah & walimah was actually over! Subhanallah... Mcm tak caye awk dah nikah (:
The 'experience' of being the 'make-up artist' (as Hidayah put it -_-")... Paisey sungguh. Hope i was of some teeny bit of help on your Big Day though, ya Huda (':

Alhamdulillah & mubaarak to the blessed 'aruusaini. Ameen.

Speaking of walimah, in general I was disturbed by some 'mentalities' of our people:
"Kalau tak pergi majlis org, nanti org tak hadir majlis kita..."
"Dia tak pergi majlis org, abeh dia ingatkan org akan pergi majlis dia???!!!"
... And the likes of it.

Yes, Islam did teach us to accept people's invitation. But just because people did not turn up, doesn't mean we can make negative assumptions of them, and "seek revenge"...
If only everyone will just focus and scrutinise one's own self...

Niat hadir majlis orang pun nanti dah berubah. Bukan krn Nabi suruh (dpt pahala! Dgn syarat majlisnya tidak mengandungi unsur2 maksiat)/ menggembirakan hati saudara/ mengeratkan tali silaturrahim...
Tetapi sebaliknya kerana "takut nanti org tak pergi majlis kita kang.."

Stitch
23 Muharram 1436H

And the last day of school just ended.

Putting a not-so-definite end to the acad year 2014:

-my first year at Aljunied as a non-form teacher.

-the most hectic year to date; events to juggle, course(s) to manage, habaibs n masyaikh to kejar *winks*, assignments to submit, students to care for (yes, I believe tarbiyah goes way beyond classrooms :')), n my heart to be cleansed. continuously.
Allah...

- Iqtisod Day last Friday was the best one so far. nice food, deco, nasyids, and pleasant Iqtisod members :)
albeit The Suspense that resulted from her message the night before. Yaa Rabb! Thank you for giving me the calmness, and I seek the Strength and Goodwill to face whatever lies ahead. Ultimately, it is Allah who Decides ya Khadijah! people are just means...

#husnuzzanndenganAllah!

On Saturday we (the teachers involved) eventually decided to go ahead with the Qiswah event: Stitching Lives at Star Vista.
The event hoped to raise funds to help buy & send blankets and kits to our brothers and sisters in Syria and Gaza insyaAllah...

Despite the initial uneasiness due to the venue, the feeling gradually subsided as we experienced the Islamic atmosphere throughout the event; the Swirling Dervishes from Turkey and the Islamic nasyids (and even Qur'anic recitations of surah ar-Rahmaan!) at the background and the Aashiq ar-Rasul performance (they're from UK) of Islamic-themed nasyids about Celebrating Allah's Mercy & Blessings, etc.
Dynamic!

Pearls of Wisdom
16 Muharram 1436H

5 modules of IOK covered. Left with the 5th module's assignment (on "Islamic Political System") and the final module and assignment(s) to go through end of this month, biidznillah.

Meanwhile, was blessed to attend Ustzh Eiman Sidky's sessions (more of mesmerising, passionate and inspiring Islamic story-telling sessions maasyaAllah) on last Friday afternoon and today walhamdulillah.

Today's talk were on Women Around The Messenger sollallahu 'alaihi wasallam:

-about Barakah a.k.a. Umm Ayman who devoted her whole life to care for The Beloved sollallahu 'alaihi wasallam.

- about Syifa', the midwife of Sayyidah Aminah when she gave birth to Rasulullah sollallahu 'alaihi wasallam, and also the midwife for Sayyidah Khadijah radhiyallahu 'anha wa ardhaaha (!!) when she gave birth to Sayyidah Zainab radhiyallahu 'anha.

- and about Umm Sulaim/Saliim, mother of Sayyidina Anas ibn Malik who has the أغلى مهر في الإسلام ألا وهي شهادتي أبي طلحة

Among the points that impacted me most were the parts:

- how Sayyiduna Umar radhiyallahu 'anh was able to change within few minutes; from loving Rasulullah sollallahu 'alaihi wasallam more than everything else except for himself, to loving Rasul nire than his own self. His son was very surprised (as I did); how could someone change so fast?? N so Sayyidina Umat told him that he envisioned himself standing in front of Allah Ta'ala on the Day of Judgement, and then he realises that he on his own, will not be guaranteed salaamah, unless he's with the barakah of Rasulillah sollallahu 'alaihi wasallam! N so immediately he felt a strong love for The Beloved, more than himself. Allaaaah...

Those, are the sohabah. The ones whose stories of sincerity, steadfastness and sacrifices never fail to move our hearts. Radhiyallahu 'anhum.

- Ustzh also reminded us to think of da'wah n the Ummah. "when was the last time we read the du'a اللهم احفظ أمة سيدنا محمد?" ("O Allah please protect the Ummah of Muhammad sollahu 'alaihi wasallam")

- likewise, ustazah also stressed on the importance of pure intentions. "Everytime we leave our houses, make the intention: "O Allah, Guide me to help whoever is in need". Leave the house with the intention to spread the beauty of Islam, do whatever you need to do, and ask for Allah's Taufiq & Guidance (':

...

Then I made my way to Masjid Darul Makmur (indeed it was very Makmur, esp. on Sundays! Ramei beno oghe)..
Another session of tahfiz as a relief for ukht Zahidah who's on an overseas attachment.
Was touched by the mujahadah of the students, esp that of a mother who did the tasmi' of juz 4 (tebuk) with me with her small daughter sleeping in her lap, and that of another more senior makcik (perhaps in her late 40s/early 50s) who did tasmi' of a verse (about 3 lines)..

Look at their Mujahadah ya Khadijah!!
U've sooo much to learn from others...

(Oh. n then when i got home, i sort of got dizzy, dozed off, and didn't attend Mufti's Tafsir dars at Darul Makmur..
When there were those who came all the way from the Eastern part of Sg for the dars.. Allaaaah.
Be stronger ya Khadijah. Stronger not only physically, but in your عزم (determination) as well! )
