But those moments when they're there, it's amazing how much happiness and beauty they brought along... those velvety petals and lush, wonderful smell.

Meanwhile, 1st qiyam (pre-Us) went very well alhamdulillah, followed immediately by a workshop on Quality Alternative Assessment by a NIE lecturer at MUIS.

Among the takeaways:

- importance of knowing the process, not just the product (to see whether students really understand the process while they try to complete the task)

- importance of ensuring that the marking scheme is neither under-representing the subject content nor irrelevent (for example, teachers should not get deviated by awarding students marks for 'creativity' that has nothing to do with the subject content or penalise students for bad handwriting.. )

Alhamdulillah.

Somehow it feels nice to attend a workshop on teaching that is UbD-less.

Haflah Takharruj (11 Feb) over - which was also the dateline to complete the talaqqi bis sanad program with the 2016 batch. Alhamdulillah all 5 students managed to khatam :')

Today, talaqqi for 2017 students started :') 4 'new faces' insyaAllah.

Learning Journey to Sungei Buloh with the Sec Ones over (13th Feb). Expected it to be more... well, adventurous. But it turned out to be pretty 'mild'. The weather was beautiful btw. The students too :)

Bengkel Teknik Menghafal al-Qur'an (today) for the Sec 1s also went well alhamdulillah. I personally learnt a lot from the sharings by Ustaz Firdaus Yahya al-Hafiz :)

I've grown to like the Sec 1s this year a lot. May Allah ﷻ Protect & Guide them always <3

It has been ages since I last did a personality test...

Just now, as I took one, I felt that it helped me to reflect about myself.

And throughout the 64 statements that I had to rate (very inaccurate - moderately inaccurate - neutral - accurate - very accurate), I realise that being in the teaching field had caused quite significant changes in myself.

I do care now about people's problems (esp. my students').

I do not mind that much about people annoying me and getting irritated easily (again, images of students -esp male students- came to mind :)). I learnt to be more neutral in that sense. To ignore certain things and not to take them seriously.

And thus I also worry less.

And am less afraid of making mistakes, as they are signs that we are imperfect and are in a continuous learning process. 

According to the test, my highest trait is 'Dutifulness', with 88% (I've yet to read on what this word truly means. heh).

Other close traits range from 'Self-Reliance', 'Assertiveness', 'Intellect', and 'Sensitivity'.
