strive on la dey!
16 Rabi'ul Akhir 1437H

Last week of Jan and I've realised that:

- fulfilling the 'aspirations' I jotted down earlier this month is not so easy. Managed to do some, but not (yet) others.. For instance, I'm still awake! *jotos diri sendiri*
n yes I know I just gotta PUSH myself. No other choice. strive on oh weak self!!
yaa Rabbal mustadh'afin.. :'(

- teaching in Arabic is definitely more me. Especially teaching the Sec 2s IH, what with the political terms n all... (can't wait for Sec 2 IH to be over. heh. Padahal baru Jan 2016 beb!)

- how fast our Intentions fluctuate. Really need to monitor it every now and then... >.<

- I'm packed. JMS - Maulid Akbar committee - Student Development (n the amanah that entails :')) - Form Teacher - Talaqqi teacher (just received the names of 5 new graduating students who will be striving to khatam 30 juz of al-Qur'an with me within 11-12 months insyaAllah) - my 11 classes - my tutee(s?) - new Special Diploma in Education? - humanitarian trip with some Ihsan Club students? - markings - thinking of activities for my dear students ...

- alhamdulillah... for Allah surely never burden someone beyond his/her capabilities! *saaaayang Allah*

1st week of School 2016
so by Allah's will, I'm still here...

For the first time, I'm tasked to teach Islamic History in English. For all the Sec 1 and Sec 2 JMS classes (8 classes in total, meeting them for just an hour per week). In addition to my Fiqh class (Sec 3B) and Al-Qur'anul Kariim class (Sec 4C).

Felt reallllly awkward teaching in English after not speaking formal English since my poly days almost 9 years back! Even more awkward in the sec 2 classes whom I taught Tauhid last year in Arabic.

Language aside, I shall take it as a practice and training ground, as well as trying to fill up the (numerous) gaps in the students' prior knowledge of the subject. Of course, will be sharing with them certain terms in Arabic as well. Told them that learning Islamic History in Arabic is much sweeter, and I hope they'll get the chance to do so after they graduated from Aljunied :')

Meanwhile, I'm form teacher of Sec 3B, a 32-girls class :)

Last Tuesday (no lesson for me as all my Sec 1s are outdoor for orientation), sat down to think & write down some aspirations for 2016:

Post-Aussie Post
28 Rabi'ul Anwar 1437H

Finally pushed the self to pick up the phone n compose...

Lets start with places we went to in Perth, for memories sake:

Kak Hawa's plc - City Stay Apartment (@Wellington St, right opposite the Watertown) - Carousel - the $14.90 Nasi Lemak shop (uish!) - King's Park - strawberry picking at 39 degrees celsius (thanks for my black cap!) - grapejuice tasting - Morish nuts n nougats - The House of Honey - Adventure World - Cikgu Roslan's place - Crabbing near Mandurah - Forest Chase - bookshop - free city bus services - Jewel Cave- Margaret River Chocolate Company - Sunflower Animal Farm - Fremantle market - Kaili's Fish and Chips - strawberry smoothies - The Good Dinosaur at Sis's place with Asadullah, Haydar, kak Latifah n Fadhilah - Chemist Warehouse...

10 days. Qantas. Ok2lah.
Alhamdulillah at least got to spend time with family and visit my 6th's sister and family :)

Paling best: animal feeding (n patting n talking to them! hehe), crabbing (banyaknye ketaaaammm! but must be big enough or else will be fined!), honey - tasting n buying, the cool air in the Jewel Cave, cheap fresh fruits & chemist warehouse, and of course, the more peaceful environment due to uncrowded places (verrrry different from Sg) and not many people. Most buildings and houses are just one-storey high, making it so easy to view the beautiful clouds in the sky :') And not forgetting the roses residents plant around their houses. Jealousss...

On top of that, 6 other things I observed in Perth:
- the traffic light for pedestrians turns red really fast! meaning u gotta walk quickly once the green light flashes.. (Kesian warga emas!)

- strict driving & speed rules (the speed limit sign changes every now n then so drivers have to be on continuous alert)

- cashiers n shopkeepers have a habit of asking things like: "Hi! How you're doing?" and "Hi! How's your day?" to customers. Unlike in Sg, where perhaps they just smile (though not always) to us.

- The masaajid are sometimes locked even during the day as they do not have caretaker (noja) like ours in Sg. sedih sikit :(

- Boxing Day sales here truly deserve to be called 'sale', although I didn't shop much.

- eat at home. u're gonna save LOADS.

- in hot weather, many people here wear hats or caps. In contrast, Singaporeans normally resort to caps (usually men) and umbrellas.

The Khad didn't really feel at home there though. Still yearn to travel to Muslim countries ;')
