.:R.a.m.a.d.h.a.n.:
30 Sya'ban 1429H

Ramadhan is soooooooooo close. less than 5 hours to go...

here's a short story taken from qisas.com that I hope will be a good reminder for myself and others:

Regret

Once, a group of people were traveling on rocks at night when a voice came from the sky that whosoever picks up the rocks will regret and whosoever doesn’t pick up the rocks will regret. Now, the people were confused. How can this be? Whether you pick up the rocks or not, you will regret!

Anyway, some people picked up the rocks and some didn’t. In the morning when they reached their homes, they saw that the rocks turned into Diamonds. Now, those people who didn’t pick up the rocks started regretting saying “If only we had picked up some rocks.” Those people who did pick some rocks also started regretting saying “Why didn’t we pick up more rocks?” Both sides ended up regretting.

Dear Muslims, this same incident will take place with us on the Day of Judgment. Those people who spent their time in useless things will start regretting by looking at those who achieved a great position in Paradise by spending their time in the way of Allah. Now, those who did achieve a position in Paradise will start regretting by looking at those who did more than them and are higher in status.

“Alas! If we had only done more to please Allah.”

meanwhile, to Kak Dja, Mardhiyah Yusoff, Wardah and Zahidah, all of us at Hannan will surely miss the four of you... all the best with your new home n let's continue our mujahadah! despite the distance, our ukhuwwah will continue to bloOm, biidznillah! :)
Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja'altahu sahla
wa anta taj'alul hazna idza shi'ta sahla

to my new housemates: Zariyah, Zafeerah, Maryam, Huda (K), Huda (H), and Syafawati, welcome to Bait Hannan! :) together, we'll continue Hannan's wonderful legacy, insyaAllah ;) uhibbukunna fillah~

lastly, to all of you, Ramadhan Kareem! kullu 'aam wa antum bi alf alf khair! :)

Rain Rain, Please Come Again!
22 Sya’ban 1429H

It finally rained! After much anticipation. On 23 August 2008, at around 4:25pm...

[intermission]

...it rained. Heavily! And just few minutes ago (tu yang intermission tu. hehe) , I joined Atiqah outside to play in the rain. Sejuuuuuk~ then Hida joined us. Couldn’t resist the temptation beb~ just hope we won’t catch fever :S

Thank you Allah for the rain! Especially since lately, the weather became more humid. So just imagine how happy we alll were when it rained. (right at this moment, from my room, I can hear Arab kids shouting happily outside, in the rain)

Meanwhile, those people are back cutting our water supply. Since two days ago, the water supply was cut even before zuhur! On top of that, blackout is becoming more common these days. For new students, please be prepared. Expect the lights to go off when u’re in the toilet/cooking/etc. haa! like this morning, when Atiqah, Hida , Mardhiyah n me gotong-royong trying to fill up ALL the bottles in our home (adelah dalam 90 kot!)before the water supply is cut off, from the various pipes -kitchen, toilet, paip air minum- suddenly blackout! One after another. as Hida said: "Selamat Hari Raya!" -_-"

pssst: tapikan, kadang2 best jugak tau blackout. Mcm excited gitu, dapat pakai lilin, torchlights… hehe. to my adik Dilah, time akak dapat Dilah punye surat, blackout tau. gelap sgt. Tapi akak pakai torchlight baca surat Dilah. Best sgt. Thanks dik ^-^

16 Sya’ban 1429H

First n foremost, the full moon last night was magnificent.
بسم الله ما شاء الله ولا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله

2ndly, the annual ma’radh (Book Exhibition), was finally over. It was on from 1st Aug till 15th Aug. went there 3 times. It’s a good thing it’s only on for 2 weeks. As kak Shahee said: boleh bankrupt. Which, is not impossible for the case of Budak-Budak Gila Buku. Like me. n most of my housemates as well (nasib baik, jadi ada “geng” untuk “tawaf” ma’aradh yang BESAR n berbelit2 tu ulang2 kali. Hehehe). Spent most of my tuition’s pay on books.

Takpe, at least u beli kitab2 Khadijah. Long time investment. Sampai ke anak cucu nnt insyaAllah ‘ilmu2 dalam kitab2 tu boleh digarap.

There! nak sedapkan hati~ hehe. asal balik ma’aradh je, happy! The first two times I went there, coincidentally, Darul Fikr invited Syeikh Wahbah Zuhaily for an autograf session on his books. Syeikh Wahbah is a very prominent figure here in Syria, very well-known for his books esp on Fiqh. My fiqh kitab I used for year 1 was written by him! Ape lagi, gue pun suruh lah Syeikh sign my book. initially, Kak Aisah Salleh n me were only trying to take his photo, but then the ‘ammu besides Syeikh called us to take picture with Syeikh! Wee~

One week to go till my Riyadhus Salihin exam. Hundreds n hundreds of hadiths to be filled into this brain of mine. Push Khadijah!!!!

(dia nampak eksyen je mcm tgh stress konon. Padahal setakat ni baru hafal berapa Hadith je. Burok eh Khadijah. Nak kene jotos kan? ).

Then, new students will be coming. Some of u (the sisters), will be staying here @ Hannan for a few days before we get a new, suitable house for you. Nanti kitorang boleh main2 sama2 k bila korang sampai? ^-^ mesti best tau stay dengan kitorang.hehe. Tak caya tanye kak ‘Izzah n kak Rai. Kan korang? ;)

Anw, lately, our house seems to be in a “Gurindam Jiwa” fever. Kak Shahee sampai bingit coz some of us were singing it at odd intervals throughout the day. Ntah siapa letak lyrics dia depan esbok, so, startlah… “Tuai padi antara masak~ Esok jangan layu-layuan… Intai kami antara nampak, Esok jangan rindu-rinduan…”. Haha.
I like this part: “Anak Cina pasang lukah, lukah dipasang di Tanjung Jati, di dalam hati tidak kulupa, bagai rambut tersimpul rapi” I loike~

Ok dah eh Khadijah. Nak kene train stop bende2 jiwang gini. banyakan selawat lagi bagus.

Reminder for myself especially, n to others: Let's optimise the second half of Sya’ban before we welcome Ramadhan with a blast, insyaAllah! :D

p.s. sorry for the lack of colours. the colour n font tabs at blogger seem to be missing. ni blogger yang nak kene jotos. hehe.

[edited after colour fonts re-appear. heh.]

Red n White
3rd Sya’aban 1429H

First n foremost, to Kak Rai n Kak 'Izzah who just flew back to Cairo after their 2 weeks visit to Syam: kte rindu korang sgt tau. Will cherish the moments spent with both of you. esp time malam2. hehe. kak 'Izzah jaga Wos baik2 tau. selalu2lah mandikan dia agar dia tak mashem. ;p
btw kan korang, sejak korang balik kan, air dah tak putus tau. 4 days straight! pecah record musim panas ni. akak2 kata, ni agaknya berkat du'a korang (du'a musafir) kelmarin. :D

for the info of my other readers: record air paling buruk pulak last Wed, just one-day before the sisters return to Cairo: water supply was only available from 10am to 12 afternoon! burok~ when such things happen, almost of us at Bait Hannan will find refuge elsewhere. hee. adelah tempat2 strategic utk ktorang "hijrah". ;)

to syabab DMASYQ: mubaarak for the outstanding performance @ IPAS last Thursday. ktorang akhawat semangat support korang tau :D

to Huda: tenangkan diri~ bila hati tenang, insyaAllah minda lebih segar untuk berfikir. kte jumpa kata-kata ni tadi:

I cannot change the direction of the wind. but i can adjust my sails.

semua yang berlaku pasti ada hikmahnya kan wak. yang penting kita tak cepat menyerah kalah. my Huda is strong :D nanti bila kte jumpa kte bagi awk special present k, biidznillah ;)

to us akhawat DMASYQ: looking forward to celebrate National Day with all of you this Sat! hee.

this is the 1st time we're going to celebrate it here in Damascus. just a simple one, inclusive of a solat hajat for our homeland. May Singapore always be in peace & harmony. ameen! :)
