Yesterday, I went to SGH to visit my bro-in-law's sister who is fighting a Stage 4 cancer...
Prior to the visit, I pictured someone who might be unconscious, unable to interact much...
But I was pleasantly surprised by how welcomed she made me feel. Talking and asking me loads of questions (her eldest son is in madrasah Al-Arabiah, previously in Irsyad), eating whatever hospital food they provided, showed me pictures after pictures of her 3-year old boy... praising his cuteness, to which i can't agree more :'D
Doctor predicted it would be a miracle if she could make it till her 45th Birthday which is this coming Friday!
I discovered that her left side of the body, including her left hand can't be moved. "Not paralysed... it's the nerves that have stopped working.." she said.
Then she continued: "but I will try to do some exercise... People thought i sakit... i have to be strong...." determined, despite sounding so exhausted due to the morphine that she had to take.
O Allah! Please make things easy for sis Dahlila Bte Ismail... Protect her from all harm and bless her with abundance of rewards and closeness to You, for all the pain & tests that she's going through..
I am indeed inspired and touched by such strength, patience, brilliance (I can sense it through her conversations) and content. Yes, she seemed content with her condition (has been fighting cancer since the past 5 years).
Meanwhile, met another interesting person there; Nek Haliza. The first 84 years old that I came across who have FB, IG and Whatsapp...
Was the first woman Malay editor of a woman magazine before Sg even gained independence. 25,000 copies sold per week in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei n Dg...
N her language was goooood! Rarely we hear Malays who use vocabs such as "marhaen", etc. (i forgot the words, but they sure weren't mainstream)...
Before we parted, she reminded me to add her on FB.
And it was really hard to depart with Kak Dahlila... she prayed her Maghrib on the bed, then she kissed me, held my hands, kissed my hands as I kissed hers, thanked me profusely (of which i don't deserve!) and requested do'a...
Ya Allahu ya Allah....
