6 Rabi’ul Akhir 1429H
No specific topic to blog about. Just thought of sharing a few things.
Few days back, as I threw a crumpled piece of tissue in a rubbish bin, the uncle cleaner suddenly recited a du’a for me. my friends n me were pleasantly surprised, but at the same time, that incident showed that throwing rubbish in bins is a rare sight in Syria. Unfortunately.
Hai lah manusia, kitorang kan Khalifah atas bumi ni..
We’re supposed to make this world beautiful. So everytime you catch yourself trying to litter the earth, remember this k. malulah kat Allah. N kesian lah kat cleaners tu semua. Kesian nah pak cik tu. mesti dia penat sangat pungut sampah sampaikan bila nampak kte buang sampah dalam tong sampah, dia gembira.
That aside, I’ve been wondering why some people love to shout. Even though the other party is just nearby. Tak sakit tekak ke?? Cakap pelan2 sikit, baik2, kan aman dunia. My ustaz once shared:
إذا لم تحصلي على ما تريدين باللطف, لن تحصلي عليه بالعنف
if you can’t get what you want with gentleness, u will never get it through harshness. Ustaz was advising us on how our interaction with our spouse should be. Nak minta sesuatu, minta baik2… :)
Speaking of shouting, I was reminded of the movie Ayat-Ayat Cinta. Somebody downloaded a few episodes from the net, and my friends n me watched them few days back. If I were to rate the novel 9 on a scale of 10, I would give the movie –at most- a 4. Remember the incident in the train (for those who’ve read the novel)? Aisyah didn’t shout. But in the movie, she raised her voice not only in the train (with an uncle), but also with her zauj (Fahri) at home and at the court. Furthermore, she’s a mutanaqqibah (a woman who wears a niqab). I’m still learning a lot of things, but I’m certain that a woman’s voice is part of her ‘aurah.
Plus, You don’t have to shout to make yourself heard, yes? :)
wearing a niqab should make you all the more conscious of your actions. And it’s supposed to help you, and the other gender, to lower their gaze. But sadly, in the movie, si Fahri tu asal boleh je main tenung2 dengan perempuan bukan mahram dia. Tak suka lelaki macam gitu. bluek.
From an inspiring, motivational Islamic novel, to a movie, which I personally feel didn’t portray the correct Islamic teachings. Belum lagi babak2 berdua2an dengan yang bukan mahram, babak Aisyah tak pakai tudung time ada tetamu yang bukan mahram kat rumah dia. Adoi. Boleh sakit jiwa gue tengok cerita ni. Huu~

As for updates, MUIS is coming for a visit this Sunday. We’ll have a seminar and dinner. Dresscode for sisters: black abaya/jubah n white/grey tudung. (normally, most of us wear black). Hee. The other day sis Aishah Arshad from MUIS wrote in her email to me, asking me if there’s anyting I want from S’pore.
This reminds me of what my friends n me “mengidam”. Some miss yong tau foo, some miss fish (here, we get to eat fish like, once in 4 months? minus sardines n tuna)… as for me, I miss sushi (sushi halal je tau). Hee. Mepek kan? But really uh. I know some ppl are not fond of it (mentah lah, bau lah, etc.) In my family, only my bro, his wife n me like sushis.
btw, last Wed my coursemates (female students in Kuliyyah Da’wah Al-Islamiyyah from 1st to 4th year) n me went to the city of Hims (ard 2-3 hours journey from Damascus) for rehlah (excursion). Comel kan? Dah besau2 ada excursion. Hee~
the sceneries were breathtaking. masyaAllah! A sister was wondering out loud to Wardah n me:
if this is the beauty of the dunya, then how would the beauty of the Jannah be??
*pejam mata*
unimaginable!
Spring is here btw . Flowers are blooming everywhere. Flowers of different colours. Yellow, purple, pink, red, white. cantik nah~
Lalu hatiku turut berbunga…
;)
