Sunnah = Optional?
Typed about the students' responses to the question on 'despite knowing about the sunnah of sitting while eating & drinking, performing qobliyah & ba'diyah prayers, etc., many madrasah students are still not practising these sunnah. Explain why it is so, and suggest 3 ways to encourage them to practise the Sunnah'...

Then the page disappeared as I tried to catch glimpses of Habib Umar's photos in my camera album..

#sabarje

nevertheless, their responses made me realise that educators (including parents!) have a HUGE role to play in painting the correct meaning of Sunnah in our children's minds.

Sunnah aren't 'small'. They might he simple, but they are never 'small'.
When we feel that Sunnah aren't a need, they're optional, not compulsory. No time to do. Don't wanna be late. And feel 'okay' leaving the sunnah ("it's not a sin"), then the definition of Sunnah and its significance must really be re-looked into.

In order for us to regard the Sunnah highly and feel connected to Rasulullah ﷺ...

Meanwhile yesterday Habib Umar -hafizahullah- was at Madrasah Aljunied for a session with the asaatizah. Habib talked on Wasatiyyah fil Islam.
Which many will perhaps translate to 'moderation' in Islam.
Habib highlighted how the sahabah -radhiyallahu 'anhum- were so in love with Rasulullah ﷺ and held on strongly to the Sunnah... some even wrote poems praising Rasulullah ﷺ.
Yet, none of them ever crosses the line claiming that Rasulullah ﷺ is 'the son of God'...

This, is Wasatiyyah.

Alhamdulillah, managed to attend 3 sessions with Habib Umar and 1 session with Hubabah Nur @Hubabah Umm Salim... #rindusangat

Datang lagi k... <3
