People are getting more materialistic, no?
was reading the newspaper just now and came across an advertisement for Arabic courses:

1. Menulis & Menyebut Huruf Arab
Program 5 minggu....
Yuran: $250 sahaja (+ nota & pendaftaran)

2. Pengenalan kepada Bahasa Arab & Perbualan Awal
Program 15 minggu...
Yuran: $ 450 sahaja (+ nota & pendaftaran)

what will be your reaction when u come across such ads?

as 4 myself, geram gitu. nak spread 'ilm, nak introduce Arabic to the community, but letak fees siket punyer "murah". setakat nak blaja hiwar (dialogue) n introduction to Arabic je kene fork out almost $500?? ridiculous laa. kesian kan kat orang2 yg kurang berkemampuan. nak belajar, tapi niat murninya terbantut psl tak cukup duit. n this was not the first time i saw such ads. dah banyak kali. yes, i know u've to pay for the venue, printing of notes, the lecturers/mentors, etc. but tak reasonable laa letak harga tinggi2 gitu....
.... lainlah kalau mmg dorang target nak "pandaikan" org yang berada je. boO!

ok ok. tak baik kan suu'uz zann. maybe they have to charge that high coz they have to cover the allowances given to the imported Arab lecturers (as mentioned in the ad). but then again, i wonder why they need to import Arab lecturers just to teach basic Arabic pronunciations n intro to Arabic. are there not enough qualified n experienced in our own Muslim community in Singapore? it's not as if they're teaching Arabic Culture and Tradition, are they? kalau gitu mungkin orang boleh fahamlah...

meanwhile, the students also play a part. be consistent. jangan suka ponteng. jangan ikutkan sangat perasaan malas. kawan tak datang, kita pun ikut tak datang. nah. janganlah macam tu. nak pandai, kene put in more effort laa :) dengar tu Khadijah? nasihat diri sendiri tu lebih2 lagi... jangan nak relax2, lepas tu berangan nak jadi Arabic Expert eh!

kene sabar... mesti kuatkan semangat. istiqamah. jangan nak slack, jangan lalai, n optimise ur time!

kalaupun tiada orang yang sokong or nak tolong, ingat! ALLAH dan Rasul sentiasa bersama!! :D

hehe... comel kan gambar ni? actually nak gambar lain, but my Nad hantar yang ni pulak. takpelah Nad, Khad suka yang ni jugak. yang tu kat Jurong tu, yang belikan khad chocolate cake dulu tu lagilah khad sayang... ;)

p.s. This entry was composed last 2 weeks, when my spirit was high. But lately i'm feeling very down. Mind overloaded kot. Banyak fikiran. n that seems to effect my mood. cepat sangat terasa n merajuk. Ish. Jangan ikutkan perasaan sangat k Khadijah? :) kene pandai kawal perasaan... patutnya semakin meningkat umur tu, semakin matang fikiran dan kelakuan. tak boleh ikutkan sangat perangai kebudak-budakan tu...

to those who might be hurt by me, 'afwan sgt. Maybe not thru my words but thru my silence? (coz bila mood tak baik, me lebih suka diam je. Diam yang teramat pun kdg2 boleh menyakitkan hati org kan?).

arabic courses nowadays memang mahal. mahalnya bertempat. the organiser for the course perhaps is targetting the new generation; Gen-M, working young adults, educated sisters or brothers who excel in duniawi pursuits; professionals. also, kalau u check, the campus is at MDIS, memang leh class tu. imagine kalau letak harga murah, taklah kelihatan the worth or value for the arabic course. Hmm , but u r also right, belajar 'hiwar' sampai $500? a bit ridiculous..

namun ilmu tu harus dipadankan dengan harga dan nilai yang sepadannya. btw, the organiser pun nak rasa 'duit'. they need to be paid. wllhlm

firstly, thanks ALOT for the comment. appreciate it. this is what i wld call a dynamic sharing of opinion.

u reminded me of what a mak cik once shared with me few weeks back when i was having difficulty fixing a fee for a potential Arabic tuition. i was worried of charging too high a fee for the students. she was saying smtg like: "jangan letakkan harga yang rendah sgt sampaikan org ingat Bhs Arab (atau ilmu2 agama yg lain spt mengaji, etc.) ni takde nilai..."

i composed this entry bukan saje2 je. i'm interested to know the feedback from our Muslim community. whether they agree to it or perhaps they find $500 mcm takde ape2 je gitu. maklumlah org skrg da byk yg berada... heh. tt's why when i said i appreciate ur comment on this, i truly mean it :)

meanwhile, i don't deny the fact that the organisers are to be paid. of courselah dorang patut diberi imbuhan utk penat lelah dorang. dorang pun ntah dah spent beribu gaknye sblm ni to master the field kan.

maybe this class has some "out-of-the-world" element, that's why they have to charge $400 + for hiwar n basic Arabic. Allahu warasuuluHU 'alam.

still, $400+ for hiwar n basic Arabic.... nampak sah, as u pointed it out, they're targeting the Gen-M (or whatever they call it).
